Reiki is considered a gentle, healing, Japanese energy technique and was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.  The term Reiki comes from the Japanese word "rei" which translates to the word universal, and "ki" meaning  vital life force energy, which flows through all living things.  Reiki (Usui) is not linked to any specific religion or nationality.  It is accessible to everyone.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to Reiki and as a practitioner, I do my best to practice it as it was originally intended.  The practitioners goal is to help concentrate and focus the Reiki energy.  We do not "use" our own energy in Usui Reiki.   An important note is you do not need to believe in Reiki energy in order for it to work.  All that is asked is you remain open to receiving it.

Usui Sensei believed that in order to live a happy and healthy life, they are five (5) principles or teachings which we should embody, which are:

Just for Today,

Do Not Lose Your Temper

Do not Worry

Be Grateful

Work Diligently

Be Kind to Others
